Practice, Practice

Being in a band is like a lot of things; it's like being married (without the sex, usually), it's like having an immensely fun job (you still punch in and out for work, sometimes you get paid, you have to get along with your coworkers, there is a lot of email involved...), it's like being in a gang (without the switchblades). But practice is where the rubber hits the road. Gotta work hard, but you gotta have fun. You have to push your ideas, but not too hard. You need to play hard, but it's crucial to listen. If you're bleeding at the end of practice, you know you're doing it right.
All this to say that practice has been great lately, complete with sore necks and ears at the end. I'm having a hard time getting to sleep on practice nights now, which sucks, but it's awesome as well.

Practice is especially great when you have watch the monitor (because you can't hear it) that is in the baby's room, and run out every hour to rock your sick baby back to sleep, and then run back in the practice room to ROCK your sick band back awake. The key is not to get your rocking mixed up and run into the baby's room with your guitar feeding back, or run into the practice room and try to rock Karl back to sleep.
